Making Time to Make Things
Before we bought the farm, we made things. We painted. We crafted. We baked. We started little projects just because we thought they would be fun.
Making things was something we both loved, and it was something that gave us a chance to slow down and spend time together. It was good for us.
Then we bought a farm. And, well...you can probably guess what happened.
A lot of those creative projects got pushed aside. There were fields to plant, things to fix, crops to figure out, and approximately a million things we didn't know we needed to know.
Once we got a little more settled, we started finding our way back to making things. Then the tornado happened. Creative time went right back out the window.
Fast forward to the end of 2025. When we sat down and talked about what we wanted to make more time for in the coming year, creative time was number one on both of our lists.
Some might argue that growing flowers and making bouquets is creative time, and I don't disagree. There is absolutely creativity in what we do. But there is a difference for us when creativity is tied to the business.

Our Bloom Bags are a perfect example. They started with an idea, and we've had so much fun designing them, choosing fabrics, figuring out patterns, and making them together. Some of the coordinating products we're working on have been just as fun. But it's still work.
What we were missing was making something with no purpose other than wanting to make it. By July, we realized we were slipping right back into the same pattern. Work, the farm, and everything else taking up all of our time.
We needed a little heart-to-heart and to get back on track,
So, we changed our schedules a little. One of the more recent changes we've made is that our training day with Charlie gives us an early afternoon to do whatever we want. Instead of filling that time with another task, we've started using it to make things.
This week, we finished Charlie's dining area, and we absolutely love how it turned out. Charlie got to participate in creative time, too.

We have a list of products/crafts we will be working on, and we cannot wait to share more.
What are you wanting to make more time for?
See you next week!
Rose
